CAMAS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Camas Chamber of Commerce was formed in October 2003 to provide support and representation for local businesses and area economic development.  Some of the Chamber's goals include coordinating and promotion local events, participation in grant fund requests, area tourism and publicity as well as business expansions.

The community of Fairfield,  in Camas County is proud to be a Gem Community Member. It is comprised of  local business leaders and professionals as well as community organizations. Together this group of committed volunteers is dedicated to promoting civic pride, social strength, and economic vitality to benefit the residents. This is accomplished by supporting and promoting a variety of year around activities and grant funding requests and projects.  Members of the Gem Team live, work, and recreate within Camas County.

Employment and Business

Presently, the largest primary employment sector in Camas County is agriculture (27.3%).  However, the industrial and business landscape in Camas County is changing rapidly.  As recognition and awareness of the area's unique year-round recreational opportunities grow and expand, so is the economic and service business development base.

Other major employers within the county are the government and the school district, High Country Fusion and Soldier Mountain Ski Resort (winter) and Soldier Mountain Ranch & Resort.   

The Medical Clinic serves residents four days per week with a dentist, physician, and nurse practitioner.  The clinic also has a life-flight landing pad.

Other businesses in town include restaurants, grocery market, sporting goods store, bars, hardware-feed store,  newspaper and print shop, small retail and specialty shops, full service salon, and community childcare. 

Lodging within the county includes The Prairie Inn, Soldier Mountain Ranch & Resort, West Shore (Magic Reservoir) Resort, Soldier Creek RV Park, Iron Mountain RV Park and West Magic RV Park.
